Pay Our Troops Act Reintroduced Ahead of October 1st Federal Funding Deadline

This week, Representative Jen Kiggans reintroduced the Pay Our Troops Act, ensuring that service members continue to receive paychecks if a government shutdown happens on October 1st.

The Department of Defense previously estimated that one in four military families struggles with putting food on the table. This bill safeguards service members who are required to report to duty during a shutdown from financial strain. Multiple military and veterans organizations have endorsed the bill, including Blue Star Families CEO Kathy Roth-Douquet.

“Our military is willing to do their job for the country, which often puts their lives at risk. We just ask that Congress do their job to keep the government running and get us paid.”
