Blue Star Families Joins Chobani in DC to Showcase our Military Food Insecurity Efforts
By Tom Porter | Vice President, Government Affairs

It was one of those only in DC events when I arrived on the National Mall to join Blue Star Families’ partner in combatting food insecurity in the military family community. Chobani had their tent at the center of the many farmers market displays from around the country and just feet away from the main stage where US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy joined the crowd in celebrating America’s farmers and how they feed our country.

Chobani powers Blue Star Families’ Nourish the Service initiative through its Hero Batch, ensuring American service members and their families have access to nutritious food essentials.
Together, our goal is to distribute 500,000 pounds of nutritious food across 15 military installations and communities, serving 33,000+ members of the military and veteran community in 2025. As we near the end of the PCS season, we are on track to meet our annual goal! Through our boots-on-the-ground approach and national applied research, we track where the greatest needs and biggest gaps are — and respond accordingly. It’s a needs-based, data-driven approach, and the work is ongoing and continuous.
With all this hard work toward meeting our goal, it was a great honor to have US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins join us at the Chobani tent and hear about Chobani’s great products and how our Blue Star Families partnership with them is improving the lives of service members and their families who are most in need.

Thanks so much to Chief Impact Officer Nishant Roy and the Chobani team for their hospitality and partnership! My Blue Star Families colleague, National Capital Region Executive Director Martha Houle, and I had a blast at the Great American Farmers Market.
